A few weeks ago, I had the best time at 360 CHICAGO Observation Deck located on the 94th floor of the John Hancock building. I experienced Tilt! where you literally tilt out of the building (don’t worry, you can’t fall out) at a 30 degree angle overlooking Michigan Avenue. It was a bit scary at first, but then I went on it again and thought it was so fun! This was all part of a new initiative called Sunset Series which features weekly activities focusing on photography and architecture. The Sunset Series is open to all visitors with general admission tickets from 6– 9 P.M. and includes:
- Mondays: Photography Night – On this night only, visitors can bring in tripods to capture the incredible images of the skyline, lights and views. Nick Ulivieri, a professional photographer lauded for his Chicago imagery, serves as the 360 CHICAGO photography ambassador, and will help develop photography workshops and contests over the year.
- Tuesdays: Chicago Architecture Foundation docents serve as “guides in the sky.”
- Thursdays: DJs from Mode Events offer entertainment while visitors toast sunsets.
Chicago 606 residents can experience 360 CHICAGO for half price by showing residency throughout the year and during the NFL Draft the weekend of April 28-30th, anyone who purchases a general admission ticket for 360 CHICAGO wearing an official team jersey can Tilt! for free! There is also a special drink, The Yellow Ribbon, made of a blend of Jim Beam, Jim Beam Honey, lemonade, club soda, lime juice, simple syrup and bitters. The purchase of a cocktail during May will benefit ChicagoVets.org. Any if all that wasn’t amazing, as summer begins, military veterans and active duty members can visit the 360 CHICAGO Observation Deck for FREE throughout Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30th).
