A few weeks ago, a few of my blogger friends, Monica and Jesi, and I hosted a brunch bash for Mommy-to-be Samantha who is having a girl in a few weeks! Since hosting and attending parties runs in my family blood, I knew we needed to start the party planning with a theme. If you read Sam’s blog you know she loves leopard and pink, so that’s where we started. I told my sister, Eleni, that we wanted leopard and pink and she created a custom invite with its own box for the bash. She’s pretty talented like that and grateful she is my sister!
Then Monica and I had some brain storming food and decorations sessions. Monica really is the hostess with the mostest! She always hosts the best holiday parties and her apartment is so cute and it was perfect for the bash. P.S. she also has the best pom pom fluffing skills. Monica and Jesi also made the adorable tulle skirt for the table. Seriously, all my friends are so talented. And how beautiful was Sam’s flower crown that Jesi put together in about five minutes. Let’s also not forget about the cute sign – so good Jesi!
It really does take a village to raise a child, I mean throw a party.. We also enlisted our friend Rachel over at Paris312 for the pretty pink balloons with tassels – a must decoration item for all your parties. Then my mom, Angie, made the floral arrangements pulling in the dark hues from the leopard print of the invite and a variety of pink flowers.
Last but not least, all of Sam’s guests arrived and we had a fun afternoon celebrating Baby Gold Coast Girl. We hope you had a fabulous time Sam and we all can’t wait to meet her! Thank you co-hosts for throwing an awesome bash with me!
P.S. Ladies, make sure to pop your champagne bottle when Sam pops too!

The first annual One of a Kind Spring Show is this weekend (April 29th-May 1st) at the The Mart (222 West Merchandise Mart Plaza, 7th floor, Chicago). There will be over 300 talented artists selling their work along with fashion shows, gourmet food demonstrations and even live music performances. You won’t experience anything else like this; hence, one-of-a-kind 😉 I hope to see you there and make sure to follow along on Snapchat: hallways runways for live coverage. P.S. Make sure to pick up something for Mom and Dad at the show! You’ll thank me later.
Here is a preview of all the excitement that’s going to happen this weekend:
- Lillstreet Art Center
For the first time ever, the One of a Kind Show is partnering with the Lillstreet Art Center, a Chicago institution that has been supporting art in the Chicago community for 40 years. The art center will host complimentary demonstrations, workshops and hands-on experiences throughout each day of the show. Lillstreet will introduce shoppers to their unique class offerings including ceramics, metals, drawing and painting, textiles and printmaking that are perfect for the whole family including some classes specifically for children. Shoppers can return home not only with wonderful work from the One of a Kind Spring Show artists but also their own artistic creations.
- Music at the Patio Bar by Old Town School of Folk Music
Talented musicians from the Old Town School of Folk Music will perform live music throughout the show at the Patio Bar, located in the center of the show floor.
- Fashion Shows
Shoppers can enjoy One of a Kind Spring fashions on the runway. Women’s wear, jewelry and accessories will be featured on the Fashion Stage on the east side of the show floor. The One of a Kind Spring Show will present three fashion shows, Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
- Gourmet Market Demonstrations
Shoppers can indulge their taste buds at the show’s Gourmet Market on the west side of the show floor. Guests can also watch cooking demonstrations by The Chopping Block as well as Gourmet artisans.
- Fine Art Gallery
Shopper’s looking for museum ready pieces can visit the Fine Art Gallery in the center of the show floor. The gallery will feature a curated exhibition of painting and sculpture featured at the show.

April 29 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., April 30 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and May 1 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, children 12 and under are free. Special ticket packages are also available.
