On Thursday night, Lauren and I had the pleasure of attending the Gold Coast Fashion Award Show Private Party at 52Eighty Lounge. Today marks the 59th annual show that welcomes and features a unique variety of up-and-coming designers, many of whom have gone on to have stellar careers in the fashion industry. This is the only show of its kind where the attendees vote on their favorite designer. Past award winners include Bill Blass, Anne Klein, Donna Karan, Maria Pinto, Monique Lhuillier and last year’s winner Vengsarkar Budhu, who also designed this year’s program. This year, six designers (Tia Cibani, Michael De Paulo, Charles Harbison, Stacy Lomman, Giovanna Randall and Tanya Taylor) will all be presenting their collections and voted on in the meantime showcasing local Chicago brands, boutiques and stores.

But most importantly, the Gold Coast Fashion Award Show has provided millions of dollars of philanthropy to support the mission of Lurie Children’s. All the proceeds go directly to Lurie Children’s that help children get the medical treatments they need. The show is a great reminder that “helping kids is always in fashion.”

It really was a pleasure meeting the ladies on the Service Board and learning about the fashion show and great cause. It really is a great way to get the word out on supporting the hospital that treats so many children right here in Chicago. If you aren’t able to attend the show today plan on it for next year and be a part of the solution.

Thanks to Zapwater for hosting such a great preview night.
