I finally went “island hopping” in Greece this summer and it was so much fun. My friend Dina and I have talked about exploring the Ionian Islands for the longest time and we finally did it, along with her cousin, Eleni. We went to Lefkada, Kefalonia and Zakynthos. Our first stop was Lefkada. The bus ride to the island was about five hours and we stayed at Gardenia Studios in the heart of Nidri. We visited Dina’s family and had so much fun picking a different beach to go to every day. The first day, we went to a beach down the road from the hotel. It was so cute, quiet and the coffee was perfect.

The next day we did a boat day tour and did 7 stops. It was such a great way to see all of the island because we didn’t rent a car and wanted to see as much as possible.

Me & Dina: Always Caffeinated.

Our first stops were Egremni and Porto Katsiki Beaches. Seriously, these are the real colors of the sea!! I couldn’t believe it.

Then we stopped at Ithaca! We only stopped at a beach, but I definitely want to go back and explore!

Then we went back on the boat and actually went to Kefalonia to Fiskardo – a cute picturesque town and I loved all the Odysseusness of the place. Yes, I made up that word 😉

Then we stopped by the island Meganisi where we went in Papanikolis Cave. During World War II, they hid a submarine in here. How cool?!

After the cave we passed by the island of Madouri and Skorpios. The island of Skorpios was once owned by Onassis. This is where he married Jackie O. It was passed down to Athina Onassis but she sold it to a Russian heir. Anyway, it was so awesome to see it!

That pretty much concluded our boat day trip. I highly recommend it, but I wish we had more time to explore all the different places. That’s okay because I plan on going back to a few places we stopped at. A day at sea made me hungry, so obviously we ordered the entire seafood menu. This was possibly the best meal I had in all of Greece, well this and all the souvlakia I ate 😉

We also went to Kathisma Beach on the island. It actually rained that day, so we went to the pool bar and then we couldn’t resist dipping in the sea for a bit. Also, can we just laugh at the bus stop! I just love Greece so much with all it’s backwardness!
