Happy July 4th! In Chicago we wait ALL winter for summer and when the holiday rolls around we hope that’s it sunny and we can enjoy some time outside. Although it finally feels like summer, most days in Chicago, I started off summer “officially” in New York a couple of weeks ago. My blogger friend Jill has been going to Mind Over Madness Yoga Summer Solstice in Times Square for the last couple of years and I decided to attend with her.
I have never done yoga before and it was quite an experience. We attended the first class which started at 5:30 A.M. It was such an unreal experience being in the middle of busy Times Square trying to focus and block out all the noises and activity around. The class began with the sun rising in the background and lasted an hour. I was surprised as how tranquil everything was and how I was able to channel all of my energy into yoga and not think about anything but that. I felt really great after the class and I think I’m going to take classes regularly.
