Today begins a new runway story as today ends my summer break and a new school year begins. My students don’t come until Tuesday, but the next few days I’ll be prepping for this academic year.

It’s a bit bittersweet starting work again because although I love a new agenda book and sharp #2 pencils, I definitely will miss summer. It’ll be nice to be on a schedule again, but that just means that weekends and breaks will be more treasured than usual. I definitely will be busy this year with teaching 6, 7 and 8th grade reading, coaching two sports and being a young author’s coordinator.

I’m not looking forward to the 5 a.m. wakeup calls and my hour plus commute, but it’s definitely worth it when I see smiles on my students’ faces.
