Bryant Park

bryantparkbryantparkbryantparkbryantpark bryantpark bryantparkWow, I can’t believe I still have outfit photos from my first summer trip to New York way back when in June. I wore this the first day when Jill and I were hailing cab after cab getting to our destinations. Our first stop of the day was meeting up with our blogger friend, Maria, from Chicago who was leaving the same day we arrived. So what do three Chicago bloggers do in New York? We lunched at Fred’s, obviously.

After lunch, we stopped to smell the flowers and relax a bit at Bryant Park before our next appointment (hint I’ll be posting about that experience tomorrow). I just love how there are parks everywhere in such a bustling city.

Then the usual happened: shopping, exploring the city, attending a new art gallery exhibition and of course, late night dining in the rain and a Gossip Girl sighting. Sooo New York.

Lighthouse

My best friend, D, and I went on an East Coast trip. Originally, we wanted to do a road trip along the coast, but then we remembered that we drove 12 straight hours to D.C. a couple of years ago and as mature adults, we automatically vetoed road-tripping this beach inspired trip.

We started in New York and then made our way to Cape Cod with trips to Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and finishing off in Boston. I believe we took every mode of transportation as well, but it was definitely worth it with views like this lighthouse in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard. Martha’s Vineyard was serene and very picturesque, don’t mind all the lighthouse photos – I was feeling inspired and the lighting and colors were great. (And maybe I was pretending that I was summering in Greece being seaside, but shhh…)

P.S. isn’t D getting so much better at taking my blog photos?!

1993

1993DSC_6686DSC_6687DSC_6691DSC_6693DSC_66941993Ah, the 90s. A time of growing up in a world of multi-color outfits and my favorite article of clothing – OVERALLS! Yes, you read that correctly. I’m flashing back to 1993 with this look, if you hadn’t noticed already. I believe from a baby through elementary school, even up to senior year of high school (thanks Tommy Hilfiger) I wore overalls like it was my business. I had long ones, short ones, black ones and even ones with sunflowers on them. They are just so comfortable and at any given moment I can transform into a handy-woman and repair that squeaky door (a ‘lil humor for ya). I’m just glad the business of overalls made a comeback because a good thing should never go out of style.

And if you are reading this and you’ve seen me several times in the last couple of months, YES, I’m wearing the overalls again! An extra bonus in the post is Eleni’s (my older sister) handmade leather purse from Greece we got together the summer of 1993 – authenticity at its finest and such a fashion-forward sixth grader she was.
