Italiano

italianoitaliano italianoitalianoMy first fashion obsession started with Italiano designers; more specifically, Dolce & Gabbana. Their designs are pure genius and so creative. The silhouettes are also very feminine and timeless. Other designers like Versace and Valentino have also been very influential to me and I spend a generous amount of time admiring their work. Italian designers are so innovative and the details are truly unique and beautiful. This is seriously my dream dress! Although, I would never be able to afford it or this one, I draw from their designs for inspiration.

When I found this dress I immediately fell for the pattern and thought of the intricate embroidery and brocade of my favorite Italian designers. Romeo & Juliet Couture definitely is channeling my favorite type of design and most importantly, my price point. Can you believe this dress was only $19.99?! This is a more casual look, but I can’t wait to show you other ways I’d style this dress.

DSC_7086 DSC_7090DSC_7092DSC_7087DSC_7083DSC_7082DSC_7080 DSC_7093DSC_7097DSC_7098Anana, you say? Well, I think my obsession with pineapples stems from the Greek word ανανάς (anana). It just rolls off your tongue as you say it. So back to pineapples… Before D and I went to our East Coast trip we knew we wanted to rent bikes in Nantucket, so then we had an issue. What do you wear on a bike ride? Well, we couldn’t wear our beach dress cover ups, so I opted for a pineapple print romper. It was perfect for our leisure bike ride that ended up being twelve miles instead of the six we had intended. Let’s just say the island of Nantucket needs to better label their bike paths. Anyway, at the end of our ride we were able to take in the beautiful scenery and the wild waves (I should have brought my surfboard along).

1993

1993DSC_6686DSC_6687DSC_6691DSC_6693DSC_66941993Ah, the 90s. A time of growing up in a world of multi-color outfits and my favorite article of clothing – OVERALLS! Yes, you read that correctly. I’m flashing back to 1993 with this look, if you hadn’t noticed already. I believe from a baby through elementary school, even up to senior year of high school (thanks Tommy Hilfiger) I wore overalls like it was my business. I had long ones, short ones, black ones and even ones with sunflowers on them. They are just so comfortable and at any given moment I can transform into a handy-woman and repair that squeaky door (a ‘lil humor for ya). I’m just glad the business of overalls made a comeback because a good thing should never go out of style.

And if you are reading this and you’ve seen me several times in the last couple of months, YES, I’m wearing the overalls again! An extra bonus in the post is Eleni’s (my older sister) handmade leather purse from Greece we got together the summer of 1993 – authenticity at its finest and such a fashion-forward sixth grader she was.
