Pleats, polka dots and peaks of orange make this preppy dress so dreamy. It’s very hard to resist a Maison Jules dress because the fit and style always fit like they were made just for me. The lightweight material made for a breezy day shopping in SoHo and eating macaroons.

Once you find a brand, cut or length to a dress or any article of clothing, stick with that brand/cut/length. Knowing your body type is better than just wearing something that’s just trendy. A big part of personal style is knowing what fits your body and how you express that. And it’s definitely alright to experiment with different fabrics, prints, lengths, etc..

Tech Week Chicago is a week long conference focusing on celebrating, showcasing and enabling emerging innovative ecosystems. Along with many different key note speakers there also is an expo which showcases new products and insights. Each day brings together people from all over the world interested in the advancement of technology in our world and how that will look in the future. Amongst the speakers and the expo, Tech Week has many after hours events including music events, food truck face-offs, movies and my favorite – the Fashion Tech Runway Show. The Runway Show was innovative and integrated technology with wearable fashion. If you look closely at the finale picture you’ll see me with my new business partner Lauren. Today is the fashion panel discussion with leading women in technology. I can’t wait to hear them speak about where they see the future of technology going.

1993

1993DSC_6686DSC_6687DSC_6691DSC_6693DSC_66941993Ah, the 90s. A time of growing up in a world of multi-color outfits and my favorite article of clothing – OVERALLS! Yes, you read that correctly. I’m flashing back to 1993 with this look, if you hadn’t noticed already. I believe from a baby through elementary school, even up to senior year of high school (thanks Tommy Hilfiger) I wore overalls like it was my business. I had long ones, short ones, black ones and even ones with sunflowers on them. They are just so comfortable and at any given moment I can transform into a handy-woman and repair that squeaky door (a ‘lil humor for ya). I’m just glad the business of overalls made a comeback because a good thing should never go out of style.

And if you are reading this and you’ve seen me several times in the last couple of months, YES, I’m wearing the overalls again! An extra bonus in the post is Eleni’s (my older sister) handmade leather purse from Greece we got together the summer of 1993 – authenticity at its finest and such a fashion-forward sixth grader she was.
